My name’s Thomas, I’m a writer from Peterborough – a small city in the flattest part of Cambridgeshire. As a child I was a keen reader, and by my teenage years my love for reading had unlocked a new passion for writing. At eighteen I moved to Leicester, where I studied Creative Writing & English at De Montfort University. My days were spent in the lecture halls and library, while my evenings often involved hosting workshops and organising spoken word nights as vice chair of the creative writing society. When I graduated, I received the university’s Portfolio Award for my project in interactive fiction.
I started working as a freelance copywriter while writing fiction in my spare time. I soon found that I had a talent for B2B copywriting, and pursuing this career became my priority. My work took me to Birmingham first and then to London, where I coordinated copywriting teams for Selfridges and wrote about art literature for The National Gallery. I lived in the hipster end of Camden and the bustling town of Tottenham, before settling in Paddington with some wonderful flatmates and a pampered cat.
I have since returned to Peterborough and to freelancing, offering a range of copywriting and editing services. My recent work has involved writing luxury holiday home listings, blogging for tech and marketing companies, creating about pages for new brands, and leading a team of writers and editors for a luxury menswear brand. My name’s Thomas, I’m a writer from Peterborough – a small city in the flattest part of England. I grew up with my nose in books and moved to Leicester at eighteen when I realised I wanted to make a career out of writing. I studied Creative Writing & English at De Montfort University, where I organised workshops, events, and spoken word nights as vice-chair of the creative writing society. In between long nights at the library and/or pub, I worked hard on an interactive fiction project, which won me the university’s Portfolio Award.
I graduated and moved back east, where I spent a couple of years juggling freelance copywriting and writing fiction. I soon found that I had a talent for B2B copywriting, and this became my main focus. While my priorities have changed, I still dabble in writing fiction on the weekends and one day hope to see my novels on bookstore shelves.
